OMK’s Chelyabinsk Facility Makes Delivery to International Project a Month Early

During a period of 4 months this year, the Trubodetal Facility (AO Trubodetal, Chelyabinsk, a United Metallurgical Company (AO OMK, Moscow) subsidiary) delivered 960 tons of pipeline fittings to the TAPI international pipeline that will cross four countries: Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, abd India. The products were ordered by the Turkmengaz Government Corporation (Turkmenistan).

To fill this order, Trubodetal used plate and large-diameter pipe from another OMK facility: Vyksa Steel Works (Nizhniy Novgorod Region). This collaboration between OMK plants helped guarantee the quality of the final product and ship the product a month in advance of schedule.

Most of the fittings delivered are induction bends of diameter 1,422 mm manufactured using high-frequency electric current. In addition, Trubodetal delivered other custom-made fittings to the project as well as tees, bends, and adapters ranging in diameter from 57 to 325 and meeting the requirements of GOST. All the fittings are designed for pressures of between 7.5 MPa and 9.8 MPa.

“As far as we are concerned, Turkmenistan is a high-potential area which we are prepared to supply and where we have a wealth of experience and technical capability. In collaboration with OMK's Vyksa facility, we are able to manufacture fittings of any size on a compressed schedule, including European sizes. We thank our partners from Turkmengaz for the trust they have shown us and for selecting our product,” noted Trubodetal Managing Director Evgeny Baranov.

The TAPI Gas Pipeline is a main gas line spanning 1,735 km. It connects Turkmenistan to India through Afghanistan and Pakistan. Its design capacity is 33 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
