Foundation Aids 3,500 Vyksa Residents in Difficulty During Lockdown

The OMK-Uchastiye Foundation has already aided 3,500 Vyksa residents (Nizhniy Novgorod Region) in difficulty during lockdown. The total amount of aid provided is RUB 2.5 million.

In particular, the Foundation purchases foodstuffs for the district's residents finding themselves in difficulty during lockdown, including orphaned seniors, people with mobility issues, Vyksa's low-income families and families with many children. As of May 15, volunteers from the Vyksa Diocese and the Situation Center operating as part of the national #Together self-help drive have delivered over 2,100 food care packages from the Foundation. Aid will continue, the Foundation being willing to offer aid to people left without an income as well as families with many children aged between 16 and 18 that are finding themselves in a difficult situation but are not eligible for any Government program.

OMK-Uchastiye together with the United Metallurgical Company is also helping organize operations in Vyksa' volunteer centers and paying for social cabs to deliver food and medications, providing the requisite personal protective gear for the Vyksa government retirement home and orphanage as well as a social rehabilitation center for minors.

The number of volunteers willing to come to people's aid in a difficult situation is growing steadily. They have already been joined by employees with OOO OMK-Tour, VSW food service contractors Sodexo Eurasia and OMS Pitaniye Metallurgov, the Edelweiss local young disabled people's organization, and the Photon laser cutting studio (a winner of OMK's Start Your Own Business Program to support social business initiatives), the Territory of Kindness Charity Organization from Nizhniy Novgorod, and the Vyksa Polar Bear Club.

"Over a million rubles were donated to the Foundation's account in under three weeks. We thank everyone that is helping us support Vyksa residents through these difficult times, some by donating time, others by contributing cash. This means that even more people will get help. We thank everyone lending a hand for their kind hearts. Together we cannot help but prevail", noted OMK-Uchastiye Charity Foundation Supervisory Board Chair Irina Sedykh.
