OMK supplied more than 30 000 pipes for the Power of Siberia gas pipeline

In July and August 2014, United Metallurgical Company supplied over 30,000 tons of large diameter pipes for constructing the Power of Siberia gas transportation system. OMK has fully met its obligations for delivering LDPs for the construction of Power of Siberia under the contract that was signed between VSW and Gazprom in 2013.

The twelve-meter long pipes with a diameter of 1420 mm and 21.7 mm thick walls with an inner and outer polyethylene coating were made at Vyksa Steel Works (VSW Open Joint Stock Company, part of OMK). The K60 strength class plates for the LDPs were also manufactured at VSW at HPM 500 using NLMK’s steel billets. This made it possible to fully localize the production of pipes for this strategic project in Russia.

OMK has invested over 70 billion rubles into setting up plate and large diameter pipe production facilities, and currently boasts of one of the world’s most advanced complexes for making LDPs of any level of difficulty. We supervise the company’s participation in new strategic gas transportation projects “from ore to pipe.” This ensures high quality and compliance with delivery terms for pipes used in the Power of Siberia project.
