We were the first in Russia to begin producing large-diameter pipes for main pipelines

In April 2015, Vyksa Steel Works marked the 10 year anniversary of the launch of pipe plant 1420, Russia’s first ever line for making LSAW single seam pipes with a diameter up to 1420 mm and up to 48 mm thick walls. In this period, the line rolled out over 5 million tons (or over 6 cubic meters) of large diameter pipes.

Over a dozen Russian and foreign companies took part in designing and delivering equipment for line 1420 more than 10 years ago. The project played a decisive role in replacing imported large diameter pipes for the domestic ones used by leading Russian fuel and energy companies (for constructing main oil and gas pipelines).  Owing to plant 1420, OMK delivered LDPs for constructing such strategic pipelines as Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean, Northern European Pipeline, Nord Stream, Bovanenkovo – Ukhta, Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok, Southern Corridor, South Stream, Power of Siberia, and others.

OMK has invested over 70 billion rubles into developing the production of large diameter pipes at VSW, including the installation of the unique Heavy Plate Mill 5000. A total of 2,000 modern workspaces have been created. As a result, we have the world’s only complex that unites the production of plates and large diameter pipes with outer and inner anti-corrosion coating at one production site. Today, VSW meets the highest requirements of domestic and foreign clients for product quality and delivery terms.
