Danieli to Deliver Equipment to Upgrade OMK Pipe Production

The United Metallurgical Company (AO OMK, Moscow) has announced that it had selected the Danieli Group (Danieli, Italy) as general supplier and integrator for its new pipe quality assurance, heat treatment, and finishing lines. This project is being undertaken as part of an integrated revamping and upgrade program for casing, tubing, and line pipe production at Vyksa Steel Works (AO VSW, Nizhniy Novgorod Region, an OMK Company). The equipment will be installed in ERW Shop 1 currently under construction.

Through its Danieli Centro Tube and Danieli Centro Combustion subsidiaries, the Italian company is to deliver to VSW a quench and temper line, a tubing and casing threading line, and a quality assurance and finishing line. The lines will be equipped with automation and product quality tracking systems developed by Danieli Automation and not available from domestic manufacturers. The new equipment will enable the facility to make pipe for the national oil and gas sector. The three lines are scheduled to be commissioned in 2018.

Background

The Italian manufacturer previously supplied process equipment for the OMK Integrated Casting and Rolling Facility in Vyksa, another OMK project commissioned in 2008.

The Danieli Automation subsidiary is also undertaking a project to introduce an automated real-time control system at VSW.
