OMK Recognized with Two Prizes in Corporate Charity Leadership Awards

The United Metallurgical Company (AO OMK, Moscow) was named laureate of the Corporate Charity Leadership Project held annually by the Donor Forum, the Vedomosty Business Daily, and the PwC International Consultancy. Its results were made public on December 13, 2017 in Moscow.

OMK’s Start Your Own Business Program was second in the category for the best program representing a company’s policy and social investment principles. The Company has been running this initiative in areas where it operates: the town of Chusovoy (Perm Territory) and Blagoveshchensk (Republic of Bashkortostan). The objective of the program is to give single-employer town residents an opportunity to make known their social ideas and obtain funding to proceed. The category was co-sponsored by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE).

“OMK’s program really helps solve social problems by raising the business activity temperature. It gives new strength to and provides opportunity to the residents, supports pro-active residents that find new opportunities for self-actualization”, said RUIE Managing Director for Corporate Responsibility, Sustainable Development, and Social Business Initiatives Elena Feoktistova commenting on the nature of the Start Your Own Business Program.

OMK was named third in the category for the public transparency of charity for effectively publicizing its social projects and programs in the media. The category was sponsored by the Agency for Social Communications. The competition’s experts noted the honesty, the clarity, and the regularity of OMK's communications as well as the use of different communication media. It was noted that the company was getting involved in public events having to do with corporate social responsibility, charity, social investment as well as a continuous direct dialog with stakeholders.

“Our social programs promote a favorable economic environment in areas where we operate, the creation of a more comfortable urban environment for the residents and stable operations at our facilities. Charity management at OMK is becoming ever more professional which, in turn, is expressed in stronger communication with stakeholders and greater media transparency. I thank the judges of the Corporate Charity Leadership Project for giving us the high grades”, noted OMK Governance Board Chair Natalya Eremina.

Previously, OMK had won the Corporate Charity Leadership Contest in 2013, 2015 and 2016. In 2016, the Company carried the category nomination for the Best Program promoting the development of an infrastructure for non-profits, charities, and volunteerism in areas of operations with the OMK Partnership Competition of Charity and Social Projects.
