OMK and Gazprom Discuss Acceptance of New Types of Tubular Goods

Representatives of the United Metallurgical Company (AO OMK, Moscow) and PAO Gazprom discussed a draft cooperation program for 2020 through 2024 and acceptance of new types of tubular goods for oil and gas projects at a site meeting in the Vyksa Municipal District, Nizhniy Novgorod Region, which hosts Vyksa Steel Works (AO VSW), OMK's principal asset.

Specialists from OOO Gazprom VNIIGAZ and OMK presented a specification covering VSW and Trubodetal (AO Trubodetal, Chelyabinsk Region, an OMK subsidiary) products. In particular, large-diameter pipes for the off- and onshore sections of the Yuzhno-Kirinskoye oil and gas field offshore south-east of Sakhalin Island in the Sea of Okhotsk. The companies also reviewed a specification for pipes with extra-tight threaded connections and electrically resistance-welded casing with enhanced low-temperature properties.

"Presenting the specification for electrically resistance-welded casing was especially important because Gazprom previously preferred seamless. We proved that our pipe is just as reliable", noted VSW Engineering and Technology Center Director Pavel Stepanov.
