Trubodetal Commissions New Induction Bending Machine for Small Pipes

The Trubodetal Manufacturing Facility (AO Trubodetal, Chelyabinsk, a United Metallurgical Company (AO OMK, Moscow) Subsidiary) has commissioned an induction pipe bending machine manufactured by AWS Schäfer Technologie GmbH of Germany.

This new equipment is capable of producing small-diameter bends ranging from 57 to 530 mm in diameter. At the same time, products may have bends in several planes and large bending radii. This new machine has already put out the first batch of bends for Gazprom.

“The Trubodetal facility is systematically upgrading existing equipment and expanding its technical capabilities”, noted facility Managing Director Evgeny Baranov. “This helps us not only reinforce our presence in the oil and gas markets but also diversify production by gaining new markets and meeting the ever increasing requirements of our key customers regarding product quality and properties.”

The induction bending process is simpler than that for making sharp-angled pressed and welded bends: there is not need for a large number of sequential steps. Pipe is simply heated using high-frequency current and bent to the required angle.

Trubodetal has been collaborating with AWS Schäfer Technologie GmbH since 2012. At that time, the first equipment from this manufacturer was installed in the bend area. Over time, it proved highly reliable and efficient. Recently, its was upgraded by German specialists which made it equal to new equipment.

Previously, Trubodetal upgraded the PB-1600 induction bending machine from Belgian manufacturer CB&I Cojafex B.V.
