VSW Awarded Russian Federation Government Quality Prize Certificate

Vyksa Steel Works (AO VSW, Nizhniy Novgorod Region, a United Metallurgical Company (AO OMK, Moscow) Subsidiary) was recognized with a Russian Federation Government Quality Prize Certificate.

Competitive selection took place in 2017 resulting in 300 Russian entrants being whittled down to 12 award and 10 certificate winners. A solemn presentation ceremony for the award for significant accomplishments in product and service quality and for the introduction of highly effective quality management methods was held at the Russian Federation Federal Assembly Federation Council. It was attended by Russian Federation Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov, Federation Council Economic Policy Committee Deputy Chair Vyacheslav Timchenko, Russian Quality System Chief Executive Maxim Protassov and others.

Experts with the competition's panel noted VSW's management system developed using the requirements of national and international quality standards, collaboration with Russian gas, oil, and railway industry leaders, personnel training and development techniques as the facility's strong suits. Experts also gave high grades to the facility's own production system based on the principles of lean manufacture.

VSW's certificate was delivered personally by Federation Council Economic Policy Committee Deputy Chair Vyacheslav Timchenko and received by OMK Business System Development Director Alexander Ivanov.

"VSW is recognized every year as Russia's best supplier to companies in the oil and gas sector and the transportation industry. As far as we are concerned it is very important that our accomplishments are recognized both by the business community and the Russian Government. I thank the competiton's expert panel for this recognition of the work we have done. Introduction of advanced facility management techniques helps us reduce costs, improve productivity, and assure high product quality", noted AO VSW Managing Director Alexander Barykov.

Background

The Russian Federation Government Quality Prize has existed for the past 21 years. Over the years, the Russian Federation Government Quality Awards have become an important professional tool in improving the competitive standing of Russian entities as well as a means to provide Government support to such entities. Over these past years, the competition's participants have included over 1,500 entities from different industries from 73 geographical areas with 188 entities becoming laureates.

Certificate winners in 2017 include representatives from the Republic of Tatarstan, the Archangel, Moscow, Tula, Chelyabinsk, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, and Rostov Regions, St. Petersburg.
