VSW delivers shaped pipe for construction of stadiums for FIFA World Cup 2018

In 2016, Vyksa Steel Works (AO VSW, Nizhniy Novgorod Region, a United Metallurgical Company (AO OMK, Moscow) Subsidiary) manufactured and shipped over 3,000 tons of shaped pipe to be used in the revamping of existing stadiums and the construction of new ones throughout Russia.

The pipe was delivered for the construction of sports arenas in Nizhniy Novgorod, Saransk, and Volgograd in preparation for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup. In addition, the VSW shapes were used in the renovation of the Central Dynamo VTB Arena Stadium and the Luzhniki Aquatic Complex in Moscow in 2016.


Shaped pipe is pipe of square or rectangular section. It is used to manufacture structural metal for various construction needs. Based on preliminary information, VSW ERW Shop No. 3 produced over 37,000 tons of shaped pipe in 2016.

This is not the first time VSW is involved in building advanced sports facilities in Russia. In 2013, VSW made and delivered over 1,700 tons of straight seam pipe with diameters ranging from 508 to 1,422 mm to the Otkrytiye Arena construction project which is the home field for FC Spartak in Moscow.
